I don't really know why, but I have always had immense respect for our fallen heroes and veterans around the world. I do know why! Because as a young man or woman they left their families to fight on a foreign land or their own to battle out what they thought was right for their country knowing that they may never return. Think about that for a moment!
As an Australian I have always been emotionally involved with memorial day here in the US as the Aussies and Yanks have been in battle side by side in just about every conflict. My Granddad was one of them.
I am fortunate to have met many American soldiers who have all said they would be happy to be side by side with an Aussie when it was time to face the enemy. Same remarks from the Aussie soldiers.
I hope you all raised your glasses to this elite group! It is the least we can bloody do!
